What is my Project?

To start a website showcasing the talents of a dedicated team of writers as well as giving a damn enjoyable read for anyone who frequents the site.

That's a vague description. Please elaborate.

I'm not going to lie, the idea is in the early stages of development. This is mainly because I don't want to call all the shots myself, I want to present the rough idea to the eventual team of writers and let them have an input on how things works. Basically I would be looking for each member of the team to have their own subsection of the site and update this on a regular basis with whatever they see fit. That's still vague I know so it's probably best if I give you an example.

My own choice would be to chapter the journey of a group of misfits come heroes. I would update their progress on let's for arguments sake say a weekly basis. At present I have two rough ideas of what I would do for this. The actual story would be narrated by the individuals within the group on a rotating basis apart from one member who I have set aside. The member I have set aside would present his diary entry for each weeks events. An example of this can be found here. www.deviantart.com/deviation/3…

That is only part of what I will be doing though. What the other writers do is entirely their choice, whether it being an ongoing story, a weekly article or several short stories. If any of the writers want to undertake co-projects then they can. The goal of the site is to give an enjoyable read as well as a wide enough selection of writing so that there is something for most audiences to read.

Is there anything else to this site?

As I previously stated, the project is still in it's early developments but I want to discuss it with the assembled team. Obviously there would be other areas about the team of writers and any personal stuff they wanted to put up there. I was also planning on doing writer interviews if the site ever got established, hopefully a few guest interviews too but it's all subject to the assembly of this team.

You keep going on about this team. What exactly do you need?

What I am looking to assemble is a team of 8-10 writers. Obviously the more writers I can get, the better. There would be roles for web artists as well but my primary aim is to get a team of writers.

What's in it for us?

I'll be honest, if you're looking at it from a monetary point of view, then nothing. You will obviously get recognition and another medium to showcase your talents. Beyond that, I can't guarantee anything.

What's in it for you?

Once again, nothing. I will be happy if it just results in a few new people enjoying my writing. I would actually end up out of pocket after paying for the domain and webhosting, etc. That doesn't concern me though as any improvement in my writing that results from this will be more than worth it.

What's the difference between your proposed site and all the other sites out there?

I'll be perfectly honest and plead ignorance. I'm ashamed to say that I don't frequent any literature sites nor have any been passed onto me. I'm sure there are others out there similar to my proposed plan but I'm honestly unaware of them.

What do you require?

As stated before I am looking for a team of 8-10 dedicated writers. Ideally I would be looking for them to submit fresh material in some form on roughly a weekly basis.  I feel that 8-10 is a realistic amount that would mean the site had plenty of new content. Obviously once a week may be too much for some people and so I will look into having some people write on a less regular basis or perhaps guest writers if necessary. It all depends on the number that are interested. As I said earlier, nothing is set in stone and so I'll work around what people can do.

Why do you want to do this?

I suppose it's probably best if I told you a bit about myself.

I'm a second year English student at the university of Bradford. I like to think that I'm God's gift to literature but I'm not. I'm slightly above average at best and I'm always striving to improve myself. I feel that this website would offer a valuable learning experience that would improve my writing ability, grant me insight into how fellow writers find inspiration and work as well as presenting my writing to a new crowd. I would like to think that this wasn't wholly selfish and that the writers who agreed to work with me would also benefit from the project.

Does the project have a name?

I was thinking of calling it 'Scriptor Clausus' which I am reliably informed translates to Writer's Block from latin. Of course this is subject to change as I'm sure some of the other inspiration dynamo's who sign up for this will have names in mind too.

How do we sign-up or find out more?

If you're interested or want to find out more information then send me a message via dA or drop me an email at Lukejalil@hotmail.com . Either way is fine by me.

Hopefully I'll hear from some of you soon.
